Unit Care Leader, permanent full time career opportunity, reporting to the Care Home Manager at Coate Water Care in Swindon. This is a very responsible role, which calls for an experienced Care Team Leader, best suited to an applicant seeking further career progression in the social care sector.
Your main responsibilities will include providing full support to the Deputy Manager in all aspects of the Care Home’s management, particularly the individual unit he/she is in control of, including taking temporary complete charge of the Home in the absence of the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager.
As Unit Care Leader, you will train and supervise Care Assistants and Domestic staff in all aspects of their work within the Care Home, to maintain the Care Home’s high standards and maintain a comfortable, clean and welcoming environment to the residents and external visitors. To assist in the care of the residents' physical environment, and in the general day to day activities of the Care Home, delegating responsibilities of care support staff in the charge of the residents under your care.
You will be responsible for monitoring and ordering of all drugs/medication as required by the residents within your unit, controlling the issue of drugs for which the Care Home has taken responsibility and to maintain all necessary records. To assist in the creation of new care plans and medication requirements for all residents, and regularly update the individual Care Plans against the required CQC standards.
As Unit Care Leader you will attend staff handovers, assessing accurate record keeping, to arrange and attend resident reviews and assessments, along with members of resident’s family and the Multi Disciplinary Team, and update Care Plans accordingly. To carry out staff supervision as set out in the National Minimum Standards. To attend team management meetings as determined by the Manager. To participate in the “on-call rota” for Unit Care Leaders. To keep personal training and development updated to an the appropriate level required for the position. To participate in the development and arrangement of suitable activities and excursions for residents that will help to enhance the quality of their lives, and to encourage, support and assist residents to participate in these activities.
