Join our team as our Lead Support Worker and work with our customer “T”. We help T to live a fulfilling life in his own home in the local community.
As our Team Leader (known internally by us as Positive Behavioural Support Team Leader) you’ll use your experience and brilliant skills to motivate and direct your team. You’ll manage your team to provide support that is person-centred, understands T’s past life experiences and builds on his strengths. Together, you’ll support him to enjoy the best quality of life and live as independently as possible.
T has complex support needs including learning disability, mental health issues, autism and communication differences, alongside ongoing physical health conditions. This job is hugely rewarding but not always easy, T does present with behaviours that challenge us but we’ll give you all the skills you need to manage these challenges.
T needs a Lead Support Worker who’ll take the time to get to know him, who is caring, a good listener, positive and encouraging. He needs you to be a keen observer and to quickly read and recognise changes in his behaviour. Based on that, you’ll adapt your approach, dialling the energy levels up or down.
T has a fun, bubbly and hugely energetic personality and loves the outdoors, taking part in lots of adventurous activities from hiking, biking to rock climbing. You’ll certainly keep fit operating at his pace! His other interests include music, singing, acting and impersonating. So, one day you might be out on a hike in the morning and taking part in a talent show in the afternoon. Don’t worry there won’t be an audition and you’ll find Simon Cowell on our job interview panel!
Where and when you’ll do your job
24/7 support for T to meet his needs
Working on a rota basis includes working days, evenings, weekends, bank holidays and waking nights.

About our team
You’ll report to Deb our Registered Manager who has worked for Home Group over 5 years now! Deb has loads of experience supporting customers with learning disabilities and has a clinical background in nursing. Deb is perfectly placed to help you settle into your new role! Outside of work you’ll find her planning her next trip as she travels the world via the alphabet!
Experience in CQC Regulated services, with a Level 3 Diploma in Adult Health & Social Care or equivalent.
Worked as a Senior Support Worker, leading support for people with complex needs, or behaviours that challenge.
Supporting people using Positive Behavioural Support model.
A passion for promoting independence and social inclusion through person centred support.
Great people management and motivation skills, bringing colleagues together to share information, best practice and fostering creativity.
You’re flexible and creative in your approach to keep support motivating, fun and safe.
A can-do approach to guide, coach and support your team to work with our customer.
Ideally got Makaton, but that’s not a deal breaker!

You won’t be left to it! Deb, Ellie our deputy manager and our clinical team are regular visitors to provide you with all the support you need!
Don’t worry, we won’t drop you into the deep end, we’ll nurture your talent, help you understand how things work here and you’ll have a fantastic induction with ongoing learning and support!
When you join us as our Lead Support Worker, you’ll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. Fab news, we pay for your DBS if you don’t have a transferrable one.
