Our Hearing and Vision team provide a range of services to people who are blind, have limited or impaired sight, deaf or have an acquired hearing loss. They also support people who are deafblind, also known as dual sensory impairment (a person who has a significant combination of hearing and sight loss).

You will join a supportive team consisting of Visual Rehabilitation Specialists, Dual Sensory Specialists, Communicator Guides, Specialist Social Workers, working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing people, and Business Support Assistants. 

About the role

In this key frontline role, you will visit customers within their homes, undertake assessments and identify solutions to meet their needs, as a result of their hearing loss, provide specialist advice and information and signpost customers to other local and national organisations. 

You will demonstrate, install, and train in the use of equipment to enhance a customer's ability to communicate effectively with family and friends or to be as independent as possible within their home.

Designing and implementing individual rehabilitation programmes and working to maximise potential, enabling people to live independently and safely in the community will also form part of the roll. There will also be opportunities for developmental work and contribution to awareness sessions.

About you

We are seeking a hard-working professional who is self-motivated, fluent in their use of information technology packages and has a positive 'can do' approach to their work.

You will be a positive team player with good organisational skills and present a person-centred approach to your practice. 

You will have a British Sign Language (BSL) Level 1 and have a clear understanding of the issues faced by Deaf and Hard of Hearing people.
