Working as part of an allocated team of Trained Nurses, Team Leaders, Senior Carers, Carers, and various ancillary staff within the home. This is a busy and highly rewarding role, with full responsibility for the care of elderly residents who live in the home. You will provide effective communication across the multi-disciplinary team and care staff using both written and verbal means, participating as a member of the team by providing a high level of professional guidance and support to ensure a high standard of care is maintained. To be aware of the requirements and ensure compliance with CQC, and all other regulation and legislation, in relation to the nursing care of all residents and day care clients.  To be familiar with and work within the NMC Professional Code of Conduct, demonstrating a commitment to developing and improving clinical skills based on research, to enhance the delivery of care.

As a Registered /Trained Nurses you will: take responsibility for your own personal and professional growth as required by the NMC;  be familiar with and work within the homes Health and Safety policy. Professional /Clinical Responsibility: To accept overall responsibility for the health and well being of allocated residents under the supervision of the management team; To work as part of the team, setting and maintaining standards, ensuring care is delivered to the highest level.

To promote staff harmony and a good working atmosphere, providing a safe and comfortable environment for both staff and residents, ensuring resident assessments, care plans and nursing records are initiated and completed within 24 hours of admission. To review and evaluate allocated care plans every month and to rewrite care plans every 6 months or earlier as necessary. To administer all medication used in the home according to policy and according to the NMC guidelines, identifying the need for, monitoring, and maintenance, of specialist equipment.

To recognise the need for and arrange visits from other health care professionals and documentation of arrangements and outcomes appropriately. To ensure escorts are provided for residents as necessary, participating in the homes recreational and social activities. To liaise with resident’s family and friends to promote good communication. To ensure safe custody of resident’s finance and property according to policy. Managerial Responsibilities: To deputise for senior nurses as and when required; Be aware of minimal staffing levels and notify the Management team/Person on Call of insufficient levels once permanent, bank staff and agency staff supply have been exhausted; Be familiar with the policy and procedures required by CQC and ensure all team members are aware and abide by them.

Maintain good levels of communication with all staff and ensure all levels of staff receive the most recent information as necessary regarding the home staff and residents. Keep the management team updated and informed of relevant information regarding the daily running of the home and any problems encountered. Maintain confidentiality regarding all aspects of care and management of the home and conduct self in such a way so as not to bring the home or its residents into disrepute. To participate in all mandatory training required by CQC.
