Neighbourhood Warden – Swindon Based

This is a permanent career opportunity working in Swindon for Local Authority, supporting the housing and community teams. Based on full time hours, with flexibility for some weekend working, you will a full UK Driving License as you will have access to a company vehicle due to visiting several community flats. The main responsibilities will include regular inspection of communal areas in blocks of flats, to engage with the local residents to assess immediate repair and improvement needs, consistently keeping on top of all Health and Safety concerns, whilst reporting all findings to the wider Housing Team.

You will need excellent communication skills, a naturally sociable personality and the ability to listen to the needs of the residents, keeping everyone informed with any plan of action and area of improvement. This will include tackling any environmental issues such as; fly tipping, rubbish and litter collection, graffiti removal and overgrown gardens and vegetation. Providing assistance to all residents and advising on general improvements such as recycling, community lighting, fire and hazardous dangers to others plus identifying anti social behaviour and reporting to the necessary teams.

The role of Neighbourhood Warden is a rewarding and sociable role, which is only successful when your attitude and ability to communicate with others is of an exceptionally high standard. You will be involved with local schools, community projects and the wider community in order to create, maintain and improve relationships between the residents, the housing officers and other community partners who will collectively drive through improvement and change.  The ability to liaise with people from different cultures, taking time to understand, appreciate and respect the views from all involved is key to the success of the role.

Naturally you will have a strong and confident personality able to handle criticism and manage situations of conflict and upset, looking to bring calm and harmony for everyday situations and discussion topics.
