Mobile Supported Housing Officer – Swindon Communities, urgently required to join a proactive Housing Team here at Swindon Borough Council. This is a permanent post and is based on full time hours (34.5) per week – Monday to Friday. Key responsibilities will include working closely with Swindon residents who live in Council owned/supported housing, assisting and encouraging them to develop the knowledge, skills and ability to live independently.

As a Mobile Supported Housing Officer, you will work as part of wider team assessing referrals to the supported living teams, working with the Housing Supervisor to agree if support is offered under strict, regulated guidelines. Working with the empty property team to enable re-lets, assessing that the quality of let meets the standards of Swindon Borough Council and other partnerships. The need to develop and to maintain strong and healthy relationships with the residents, the strategic partners and wider public is key to the success of this role, providing regular and correct communication throughout the entire process.

The management of maintenance and handypersons, cleaning teams and apprentices will form a key part of this role, therefore the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing is also required. Liaison with internal and external teams to include Social Workers, Support Staff, Councillors, Benefit Assessors, Housing Managers, Child Protection Teams The Law Centre and GP’s forms your key support network.

You will be planned organized and able to prioritise the needs of others in line with housing regulations and occupancy needs a strong character, someone who can ‘get things done’, able to update and record all actions in a timely manner.

Ideally you will have previous employment experience gained in a social housing role or similar, where you have been responsible for managing housing needs and delivering support services to local residents. In return you will receive excellent levels of training in The Health and Safety at Work Act with associated training on safeguarding and housing/building safety.
