As a Mental health Outreach Support Worker, you will be supported by a highly trained and knowledgeable team, working in the Swindon Community to offer ongoing care and support to children and young people who have a range of mental health requirements, working closely with families and support organisations to help, understand and offer dedicated, individualised support.
Each Outreach Support Worker has a caseload of children and young people, coordinating care and support with other professionals, schools, GP’s, the voluntary sector and early years teams.
As the needs of mental health are ever increasing, Swindon Borough Council needs to attract and recruit a number of care and support workers to work in the community, delivering exceptional levels of support, heling those to live enriched, independent and improved lives. Taking time to understand each and every service user, offering advice, care and support across a range of spectrums.
No one day is the same as every service user has very different needs, therefore the need for good listening and communication skills is key to the success of your career. Getting to know each service use and their family/support network is important, taking time to listen and share life experience and show an interest in their lives and possible hobbies and pastimes.
Your training will cover Mental Health, Health and Safety, Manual Handling, COSHH, Food Hygiene, First Aid and all regulated Care related training and development. Ideally we are seeking applicants who have had previous experience managing the needs of people suffering from mental health situations, however if you have the core values and skills and hoping to secure a lifelong career mental health, we would love to hear from you.
