Lettings Assistant

Your next role
Your role as Lettings Assistant will be verifying Council tenants’ eligibility for a transfer and ensuring the process is explained to tenants and enabling them to move as soon as possible by regular communication with our Voids Repairs Team and meeting necessary deadlines for verification checks in line with our Allocations Policy.
You will be responsible for processing tenancy terminations and coordinating the pre-void lettings and advertising process for our choice-based lettings scheme. The role will involve liaising with tenants over the telephone and face to face to explain the process and carry out lettings verification checks to ensure an offer of accommodation can proceed.
This role involves working as part of the Voids and Lettings Team as well as individually, using your own initiative. Included in the role will be contact with our Surveyors, repairs team, Housing Officers and customers over the phone and by email, collecting information, and recording information for the use of the whole team. You must have an eye for detail and excellent data entry skills to input information in our housing database and data entry into spreadsheets. You must also have strong organisational skills so that you can successful meet the deadlines required for this service.
Of course, we don’t expect you to know the role inside and out which is why we train and develop our staff to build the knowledge, confidence and skills they need to be help our customers accordingly. We do however, require someone who is motivated to get the job done and is a team player. Preferably we would like someone to have a working knowledge of lettings or housing, however, this is not essential as most importantly, is having someone who has the right, can-do attitude; holding the skills as outlined above and the right behaviors.
Applicants will need to be IT literate and able to use email and excel and training will be provided on our IT module for Lettings and Void Management. You must have GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 or above or equivalent with experience of working in a team and preferably in a customer environment. You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act for the effective performance of a customer-facing role).
This role is 37 hours per week Monday to Friday.
