As a Housing Options Officer, you will be working for Swindon Borough Council with full responsibility for the interviewing and case management of people in need of housing, providing high quality advice and assistance, whilst dealing tactfully and sympathetically with applicants in frequently stressful circumstances. The primary aim of your role is to take appropriate action to prevent homelessness and empower customers in Swindon to find solutions to their housing problems.
You will ensure that customers are aware of their legal rights and liaise with housing providers and other agencies, including Citizen’s Advice, The Courts, Police, Probation and Social Services to find positive outcomes for your customers. Ideally, we are looking for previous working skills gained within Welfare and Benefits, Social Care, Housing or similar public facing/issue resolution sectors. You will be working as part of a wider team, having exceptional levels of verbal and written communication skills, combined with advanced working knowledge of Windows based software, Teams, Outlook and SharePoint are essential to the successful planning and management of this exciting and challenging role. You will need to provide satisfactory employment references, have the Right to Work in The UK and be willing to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure in line with Safeguarding polices and procedures.
