Our Hearing and Vision team provide a range of services to people who are blind, have limited or impaired sight, deaf or have an acquired hearing loss. They also support people who are deafblind, also known as dual sensory impairment (a person who has a significant combination of hearing and sight loss).

About the role

As a Dual Sensory Specialist, you will carry out specialist Deafblind assessments and develop appropriate support plans, in addition to undertaking reviews and signposting.

We are looking for someone who can work with and assess the needs of adults who have both a hearing and visual impairment; these impairments may be acquired or lifelong. The people you assess may have additional disabilities such as a learning disability, physical disability, or mental health problem.

You will assist the service to identify, make contact with and keep a record of people living in Wiltshire who are Deafblind or dual sensory impaired. You will also work closely with national and local sensory organisations.

About You

You must hold a minimum of BSL Level 1 and have an understanding of Deafblind manual, Sign and/or Block, as well as a willingness to complete a relevant professional qualification in Deafblind studies and BSL Level 2.

You will have an understanding of disability issues in general and the relevant legislation for this area of work. You will also require excellent IT skills to undertake the role.
