Community Meals Chef/Driver – Swindon
As a Community Meals Chef/Driver, this is a customer-facing role for the Community Meals service, working part-time for 13 hours per week. As a salaried position, you will be part of the permanent team, where you will be working for Swindon Borough Council, in which the chef will prepare hot meals and deliver them to vulnerable and elderly adults living in the local community. Ideally, you will be required to provide an efficient, professional, and empathetic service for the Community Meals service. Community Meal Chef/Driver you will be reporting to your Team Leader of Communities & Housing.
Ideally, You will need Key Accountabilities skills, Independent management of preparing hot meals, a pre-planned daily route plan for Community Meals customers, a good understanding of customer data sets, and Information Governance. Excellent time management of the daily route to deliver service within fixed timelines, empathy, and understanding of vulnerable and elderly adults. Basic understanding of food hygiene guidelines. Responsibility for the safe use of SBC transport and Compliance with all SBC policies and procedures.
For the role of Community Meals Chef/Driver, you will have a Full UK Driving License and will need a good level of knowledge of health, social care, and voluntary and community sector services/networks in Swindon and an understanding of the boundaries of confidentiality and safeguarding. Working knowledge of Public Health principles and practices, gained within a health, social care, or voluntary and community sector environment, with experience in using coaching and/or motivational interviewing or similar techniques.
To work collaboratively with other workers/bodies in order to coordinate health promotion activity and deliver community engagement, knowledge of recruiting, training, and managing volunteers with sound IT knowledge and skills, specifically Microsoft, including Excel. Excellent written and communication skills are required. A really engaging role, working in the community requires a sociable and happy disposition.
