Broker within Adult Social Services, reporting to the Brokerage Manager at Swindon Borough Council.  This is a permanent career opportunity, offered at full time hours Monday to Friday, with an exceptional annual salary and enhanced employee benefits package.

You will be working with social care practitioners to procure packages of care and support from a range of specialist providers in Swindon, ensuring packages of care are put into place within a timely and efficient manner to ensure the necessary support for vulnerable adults in line with the Care Act. It will require a flexible approach in order to manage a busy workload and prioritise work requiring an immediate response based on risk and need. 

As a Broker, a knowledge of providers or services would be an asset but an attention to detail and ability to maintain relationships will be the key skills required. You will source solutions to meet the individual’s assessed care and support needs, working with social workers, care managers and providers to develop and deliver a cost effective support solutions to meet identified outcomes. Creating an audit trail evidencing the treatment of accredited providers, administrate social care solution process and develop and maintain working relationships with key stakeholders including support providers, care management services, verification teams and finance.

Maximise the use of the contracted services through effective vacancy management, by reducing voids and working with service providers to be flexible and providing value of money for services. Offering support to services users’ and their families to exercise choice and make informed decisions. This will need exceptional levels of verbal and written communication skills, with excellent working knowledge of windows base software and management tools. To set and maintain accurate and up to date service user records using the social care systems provided, with an awareness of Swindon Borough Council Safeguarding Policy and Procedures, understanding how and when to raise safeguarding alerts social care staff to reduce delayed discharges from acute trusts, by prioritising discharges

As a Broker, you will work with management teams to ensure funding is agreed prior to sourcing services, ensuring values for money solutions. Ideally you will have previous working knowledge of the Social Care sector and the ability to plan, orgainse and manage busy workloads all in the interest of the service users in Swindon.
